Algae For Bio-fuel

Algae - Green & Responsible Alternative Energy Source

Is Algae Biodiesel Going To Finally Get It's Due?

First and foremost, WE'RE BACK....with a new administration coming in and the Obama speak we heard on the campaign trail about BIODIESEL. He always made a point to speak about not just biofuel, but specifically biodiesel. He has an opportunity to focus investment by the U.S. government on developing current algae growing technologies to provide biomass feedstock production on a scale large enough for our governmental vehicles, heavy equipment, water craft, aircraft and mobile power generation equipment. Yes, biodiesel can be used for all of these applications.

From Valcent Products to Greenfuels Technology to Solix Biofuelsto Solazyme to CEHMM Biodiesel Project to Sapphire Energy we have a number of options right here on the continent.

Its time that the new administration begin to arrange to use executive power to make this investment in a new national infrastructure at the earliest possible opportunity. It will provide jobs, a greater level of national independence and most importantly a fuel source that sequesters greenhouse gases in the very biomass feedstock used to refine into biodiesel.

In Sapphire Energy, we are presented with technology focused on genetically developing algae species that can be automatically refined into what amounts to gasoline. It should absolutely be considered that there are already quite possibly millions of different algae species, so should we be attempting to create a new species of a genus that can overcome whole oceans? When we already know about non-native flora species destroying ecosystems, is the biodiesel alternative not already convenient enough?

We also must continue to use and develop more fuel efficient internal combustion engines. But because we already have the diesel motor, a design that can be operated on biodiesel now, cutting greenhouse gas emissions in half, why not just go with biodiesel in the current and new diesel motors and develop diesel electric hybrids. Ford Motors had a working model of a cross-over prototype called the Meta One in 2005 and they did not move forward to develop it or anything similar. I'll bet that is a sore spot now. Honda and VW plan to release bodiesel compatible diesel/electric hybrids in Europe next year.

It's time we all started to press in every walk of our lives for more intelligent efforts on fuel and vehicle alternatives. Move to communicate this to your legislative representatives, both U.S. Representatives and U.S. Senators, but also your state, county and municipal representatives.

THE TIME IS NOW MORE THAN EVER. WE CAN BE THE CHANGE WE NEED.
